26.09.2024 PUBLIC STATEMENT

PUBLIC STATEMENT

A need has arisen to make a statement in order to inform the public correctly regarding the report prepared by the Republican People's Party and submitted to the TBMM Investigation Committee regarding the landslide that occurred in our Çöpler mine on February 13, 2024, and published in the press today.

We would like to present the following issues regarding these claims, which we have also responded to in our presentation to the TBMM Investigation Committee:

The claim that "222 million TL tax debt was erased"

Within the scope of the rights granted to all commercial enterprises within the scope of the Law No. 7440 on the "Restructuring of Certain Receivables and Amendments to Certain Laws", which entered into force on March 12, 2023, our company, like all other companies, has benefited from this legal right and has resorted to tax debt restructuring.

Our company fully fulfills all its tax obligations and does not avoid any obligations. With this sense of responsibility, a total of 10.3 million USD in additional earthquake tax was paid in 2023 for the 2022 tax period. This amount is higher than the tax debt arranged within the scope of the restructuring and once again demonstrates our company's determination to fulfill its legal and moral obligations.

The claim that "although many work accidents have occurred in the mine site to date, some of them have been hidden from the public"

SSR company was founded in 1948 and the incident that occurred on February 13, 2024 is the first fatal accident that SSR company has experienced since its establishment.

Occupational safety is one of the cornerstones of our activities and all our operations are carried out in strict accordance with national and international occupational safety standards. In order to prevent work accidents in our mine site, comprehensive training programs, field inspections and risk management systems are implemented; all necessary precautions are meticulously taken to minimize possible accidents.

In addition, in the event of any work accident, the accidents are reported transparently to the relevant authorities and the public as soon as possible. All our processes are carried out within the framework of the law, in accordance with the principles of transparency and accountability. An approach such as confidentiality or information hiding is absolutely incompatible with our company policy. All records related to work accidents are fully transmitted to authorized inspection institutions as required by the legislation.

As Anagold Madencilik, we are aware of our responsibilities to society in every field we operate. We are aware that gaining the trust of the public and our stakeholders is possible by always keeping our sensitivity in the field of occupational health and safety at the highest level. With this sense of responsibility, we would like to emphasize that we will continue to carry out all our operations in a transparent manner.

“The report, which draws attention to the fact that there is a second company called Kartaltepe Mining that brings and piles oxidized ore to the leach field, claims that separate applications were made to the EIA by showing the units of the integrated facility as different projects, and that “fraud” was committed by violating the rule of “A single EIA process is operated for Integrated Facilities”. Kartaltepe Mining and Anagold Mining projects were examined within a framework where environmental impacts were addressed with a holistic approach. The EIA reports of both projects provided a comprehensive analysis of the total impacts on the environment by evaluating the possible impacts of the activities on the regional ecosystem together. In this process, potential environmental risks that may arise from the projects were addressed collectively and appropriate management strategies were developed. In particular, a cumulative impact assessment was carried out for both projects, which revealed how the projects affected each other and how the environmental impacts were shaped on a regional scale. The cumulative assessment took into account not only the individual impacts of the projects, but also the collective impacts that they could create together with other existing activities in the region. “Citizens who were alienated/alienated from their means of livelihood, which were previously based on agriculture and animal husbandry, have been made economically dependent on the mining operation. Local people have been forced to work in the mining sector and sub-sectors related to the mining sector” claim

As Anagold Mining, we have launched the Social Development Fund (SKF) in 2018 in order to increase economic diversity in the region and support sustainable development. This fund supports projects that allow the local people to continue their own independent economic activities, without being limited to the mining sector only. Supporting local and traditional livelihoods such as beekeeping, animal husbandry, agriculture and small business development within the scope of SKF contributes to the long-term economic independence of the local people.

Claims that local people have been forced to work in sectors other than mining
